Celtic Tides
A musical journey from the Old World to the New. Features Clannad, Altan, The Rankins with The Chieftains, and more
On this day, far from the maddening crowd decked out in their "Kiss me, I'm Irish!" T-shirts and the pagan hordes guzzling endless pints of green beer, I'm holed up in a hotel room on the outskirts of Nashville, watching the greening of America through the keyhole of CNN, the fabled news network.
I'm reminded of a comment on the subject of the wearing of the green from Booster, a musician and guide on Dublin's Music Pub-Crawl. "Americans want the chocolate box image of Ireland. They want us wearing little green outfits and being all cute and sprightly. They really love all the tradition."
